NxWorries coming back with new music was such a pleasant an unexpected surpise. This duo NEVER MISS. Coming through on this resurgence with muso virtuoso, H.E.R, just made the return that much more special. .Paak has assured us that a new album is on the way and if it sounds anything like this track - we're in for a treat.
Full Crate remains one of my happiest finds, the dude is a producing genius and everything I've heard from him is immaculately put together. The Russian-Armenian DJ is currently in the middle of an incredible run of singles which started off with this tack Beh Beh featuring Malia.
Perisan Empire is another incredible producer who is ridiculously underrated. His beats are bounce from soothing to weird to uneasing all without loosing the plot. His insistence on experimentation with sound is akin to the likes of Hudson Mowhawke and James Zoo; only with a slightly stronger Hip Hop influence. At Least I Dont Have It All is one dope track off an album of weird lowkey bangers.
11. Panic Manic - Tumi Mogorosi
12. Tiya Mowa - Bokani Dyer
13. Zig Zag - Mthunzi Mvubu
This is a trio of truly brilliant South African Jazz. The albums of Tumi Mogorosi & Mthunzi Mvubu are of similar tone and feel which expresses a depth of experience and welcome exploration of modern African Jazz. Tiya Mowa is the second single off Bokani Dyer's upcoming album, Radio Sechaba. Most interesting is Dyer's recent statements stating "I've left the audience behind. . I'm sorry, but I have to live my artistic life and not all the music will be enjoyed by everyone" - based on this single it's safe to say that we'll be out of breath chasing this man with ears perked and zero intention to be left behind.
Ezra Collective are at the epicentre of UK diaspora jazz-like music. This album is a brilliant representation of what it is to embody the spirit of young, black and funky. In an attempt to avoid mis-genre-ing the album I'll just say their album Where I'm Meant To Be has HEAVY rhythms and inspired performances - the aptly named Victory Dance is but a taste of the absolute winner of an album.
As always, I'm not going to write about all of the music, but rather let you listen, experience and decide how you feel about this month's music.
