Lulama Wolf is a South African, homegrown wonderchild of the art world. In her short time with brush in hand and canvas in sight - her art has taken the world by storm. Her works examine the precolonial African experience through the contemporary mind. Using techniques like smearing, scraping and deep pigmenting, she creates abstract art inspired by the vernacular architecture of her home country.

As an African, seeing Wolf’s art for the first time strikes an emboldening feeling of warmth and familiarity while also providing a revitalizing freshness in technique and visual composition.

Wolf has tightly clinched her wholly unique and totally captivating style and marched it over to H&M in a collaboration that has some of the most enthralling homeware that I’ve ever seen.

Brandishing her soul and spirit across eight pieces including, plates, rugs, throws and pillows – it’s clear that the artist pulled no punches in the creation of this collection. “I started painting from a very early age and fell in love with making and creating,” states Wolf, and her Love of craft is as evident in this homeware as in any of her other works.

The collection presents an opportunity for ordinary art lovers to bring a piece of Wolf into their home without having to launder money or sell a kidney. It’s unclear whether the collection will be available in SA but either way, we Love to see a local Black Woman get her bag.
