Some Sportsmen, A Businessman and 3 spies walk into a bar. . .
Creed III
Micheal B Jordan (Fruitvale Station, Black Panther), Johnathan Majors (Lovecraft Country, Antman: Quantamania) and Tessa Thomson (Sorry To Bother You, Thor: Ragnarok) star in the 3rd installment of the Creed franchise. Helmed by Micheal B. Jordan in his directorial debut, Creed III takes a slightly darker tone than usual but also injects a fresh new look. This story potentially concluding a trilogy with a story about ghosts of the past and the work it takes to overcome.
For me this was the best film in the franchise, and I wouldn’t be mad if it ended like this. But you don’t have to take my word for it, early reviews give it a Rotten Tomatoes of 87 and a Meta critic of 72. The film is currently showing in cinemas and absolutely both worth the money and the time.
Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre
A film helmed by the legend Guy Richie, the legend responsible for films such a Sherlock Holmes, Snatch, & The Gentlemen. This film brings back Jason Statham (Snatch, The Transporter) in spectacular fashion along with Hugh Grant (The Gentlemen, Love Actually) in a more villainous role. With the addition of the lovely and funny Aubrey Plaza (The White Lotus s2, Ingrid Goes West) this one is set to be one of Richie’s sure bangers.
The film follows a spy team as they attempt to infiltrate an arms dealers operation by honey potting him with his all tine favourite actor. The film’s trailer is chockablock with witty commentary and slick action – making this look like Richie pulled another one out of the toff guy handbook of awesomeness.
Originally set to have come out a year ago, this film was delayed allegedly because of the Russia Ukraine war. Unfortunately, I’m not actually sure if we’ll get it in SA but if we do it will be a fun watch.
The Consultant
An Amazon Prime series, worthy of the binge.
After the untimely and violent death of a gaming conglomerates CEO, a mysterious, bullish and all round creepy consultant comes in to take on the reigns of the company. The series follows a developer and the CEO’s executive assistant as they try to figure out what this guy’s deal is.
This is a compelling and curious watch. Christoph Waltz (Inglorious Basterds, Spectre) is as always, unnerving and captivating in his performance as the cut throat consultant. Brittany O’Grady (The White Lotus s1) and Nat Wolff (Paper Towns, Death Note) a have a natural chemistry that serves as a minor comfort in a show that thrives on tension and mystery.
I’m 2 episodes in and I can feel myself getting more and more engrossed with every minute of the show.
Formula 1: Drive to Survive | Season 5
The hit Netflix docu-series is back! After the whirlwind of a season in F1 last year, this season is set to be one of thrills. The new regulations and a recalibration in the pecking order of the sport have been underway and I have no doubt that the D2S showrunners will have a great deal of fun depicting it.
This show is how I got into F1 as a sport. Before watching this I truly didn’t get the thrill of motorsport in any division, and now I’m glued to my screens on F1 Sundays. If you haven’t taken the time yet, I’d highly recommend checking out the fast paced, lavish rollercoaster of a world called F1 through this show.
